In the Nissan Leaf commercial, it is about an
electric car that can help our environment and make global warming decrease
because of the fact that it’s electric and it won’t harm the ozone layer. For
example the polar bear that is represented as the car at first I believe, lives
off nature and goes through it all and survives but when the garbage trucks
pass him with all the garbage in it he gives them a big roar to show that that’s
harming our ozone layer unlike the Nissan Leaf car that’s electric and won’t
harm it. The people that this commercial is intended for would most likely be
the “tree huggers” who do whatever it takes to save our ozone layer and are
against things such as pollution and destroying trees. The type of rhetoric
that is being used is the polar bear and how he can live off nature without
harming it just like the Nissan Leaf can. According to this commercial and the
reading by Sturken and Cartwright I would say this is a negotiated reading for
me because I agree that it would help our ozone layer but not all cars that are
electric are safe for our environment, they still need gas which we get from
our environment but it’s better for our environment than a regular car that isn’t
an electric one so it does have its good points and its bad points.
